One of the most luxurious places to stay in the southwest of Western Australia is Empire Retreat, situated in the Margaret River region of Western Australia, about 2.5 hours drive southwest from Perth.
We stayed for a few days and it was heavenly. Accommodation is private and luxurious. Breakfast is served in the communal dining room overlooking the estate and it was beautifully home cooked.
The only meal cooked for you each day is breakfast. There is a communal kitchen for guests to use during the day and even cook their evening meal if they wish. But there are also plenty of restaurants in this region to visit for dinner.
Our favourite thing to do is to visit Yallingup Hot Bread on the way through on McLachlan Rd in Quindalup and buy some fresh out of the oven loaf at around 4pm, head to Empire and break out the butter, Vegemite and peanut butter. Or even just have it with some cheese and wine. Yum!
There is also an awesome massage therapy unit as part of this complex. We've had several massages here over the years on visit to the southwest and each time it has been absolutely beautiful. Quiet, great surroundings and fantastic therapists. You can grab a Sanctuary massage for about $200 for 90 minutes. Worth it.
Our last trip to Empire Spa & Retreat was the day prior to them closing for some time while they renovated the property. Can't wait to go back there.
