Chateau On The Park, DoubleTree by Hilton, Christchurch

Located on the edge of Hagley Park it’s about 20 min walk into the heart of Christchurch, if you like walking this is a great location.

The hotel itself is an older hotel resembling a gothic chateau that has been lovingly renovated and maintained. I don’t feel it’s five star standard but it’s a good solid hotel.

The room was a good size and great bedding, there’s a small lounge and desk, and we were lucky to have a room with a balcony over stunning gardens. The only issue we had was the fridge in our room, which was on its last legs and very noisy at times all through the night.

The bathroom was okay. It featured a bath and seperate walk in shower. However, it was was on the tiny side and you couldn’t swing a cat in it.

The gardens around the hotel are beautiful especially around the restaurant you can’t tell they spend a lot of time maintaining the property.

My most favourite thing about the hotel was the welcome warmed chocolate cookies. Great idea that Rydges do a their Couple Tree hotels. I know it’s a signature of the Double Tree group which is unique.

But I come back to the park again. Check out how gorgeous Hagley Park is below and it's just a few steps away from this hotel.
