Hotel St Moritz, Queenstown

From the moment we stepped into Hotel St Moritz we were transported to a mountain top Alpine resort, yet we were still in the heart of Queenstown.

We walked into a beautiful reception area with a log fire and leather lounges which set the start of a great stay. Now this reception area was so cool and yet warm and comfy, you just wanted to move in straight away.

Check in was slow due to both staff members helping other guests with some booking issues. Sam the Guest Relations Manager saw that we were waiting and quickly checked us in. Sam was fantastic, friendly, engaging and sparked up geniune conversation with us.

Our room was a stunning 1 Bedroom lake view suite on level 6. It was beautifully appointed. At the entry was a mirrored bar area with microwave (nice touch, wish I had known - I would have bought a pie with me from New Zealand's best bakery "The Doughbin" in Wanaka!). Upon a closer look I discovered the area was a mini kitchenette with all the utensils - Love it!

The entry walls and lounge had lovely silk wall treatments that resembled an animal print, which gave the room a real warmth. The lounge area had a comfy three seater couch, a cool occasional chair and foot stool plus a stylish two seater table and chairs. To finish the room a large LED TV was placed in both the lounge and bedroom. The lake view was from a small openable window gave a view out to the lake, and fresh air which is not common these days.

The bedroom followed the same styling with a king size bed and a stunning black and white bathroom complete with both a huge bath tub and walk in shower. We loved the Molton Brown shower gel and amenities.

The colour scheme of the room and reception, bar and restaurant just made you feel relaxed and like you were in an alpine ski resort. The bar and restaurant had stunning views over the lake and the Remarkable Mountains.

We enjoyed a beautiful dinner in the restaurant that night. The classic Woodfired Lasagna that has been on the menu for 20 years was delicious. The service from the restaurant staff was outstanding especially loved one of waitresses who had a great conversation with us about our travels, that’s what’s makes this hotel stand out.

I had to change our reservation as our travel plans changed by a day or so at the last moment however the reservation staff and Suzannah from marketing were so helpful with the change.

The hotel is located behind a low rise apartment on the lake, a quick and easy 5 min walk into the heart of Queenstown’s centre with great restaurants, bar and retail shops, the hotel even offers a complimentary taxi to get back to the hotel-awesome idea!

I really couldn’t fault a thing with the hotel, the staff were friendly and engaging. The room was warm and beautiful and the location was great. Thanks Hotel St Moritz for a wonderful stay. We would not hesitate to come back.

Stay there. It's worth it. Book direct (contact info below) and I'm sure they'll match the price you get from any of the other overseas booking sites like Trivago and booking.com. That way the money will actually go to St Moritz as those other sites take a fair chunk.
