This W Hotel was a great surprise. Located in the new part of Istanbul and near the ocean, it has an old charm about it encapsulating the funky feel of W Hotels, yet in keeping with the feel of Turkey.
The rooms are dark and spacious, ours had a courtyard that we didn’t end up using once. The bars within the hotel were really modern and yet Turkish and it was pretty easy to get around from this spot, down to the tram that heads over to old Istanbul, where you can visit the Blue Mosque (I expected it to be bluer), the famous spice markets (awesome) and many other spots. Shopping was amazing at the big indoor shopping centre.
