We’ve stayed at the W Retreat in Koh Samui a couple of times.
The W is one of our favourite brands and this hotel is probably our favourite of all of them. It is now our preferred place to stay in Koh Samui. The team are just awesome. Each villa have it’s own private pool, but as well as that, each hotel room in the main building also has its own private pool on the balcony overlooking the ocean.
The reception area has a gigantic pool (seen above) with seating pods in it that you can sit in, drinking cocktails to watch the sunset, but a hidden gem that we just found on our last night is SIP bar on the beach. Amazing vibe and energy. A great space to relax in, jiggling your toes in the sand if you want or sitting at the bar. The restaurant Namu next to SIP is also amazing.
There is a very funky, well equipped gym called “Sweat” and a very luxurious spa called “Away”. There are lots of different areas to chill out around this resort.
If you’re heading out anytime, they’ll send a buggy to your room to collect you to take you to reception. A great feature of this hotel are the “Sweet Spots” close to your room that has cold drinks, ice and ice creams stocked up for you to enjoy 24/7. Just help yourself.
General manager Nick was fantastic to deal with and always seen around the resort welcoming guests and chatting to them about their stay.
The resort is well out of Chewang Beach which is where most of the nightlife is, but it’s just a taxi ride away and well worth it. You will not look back.

Our room was an Ocean View Escape. Here’s what their website says about it… “Your wake-up call: spectacular views over the Gulf of Thailand.
