Soneva Gili, Maldives

This resort was part of the Six Senses group and the same theme of “Slow Life” that they have throughout their resorts continues. A beautiful island that has over water bungalows reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe , or they look like something out of that hideous Kevin Costner movie “Waterworld”. But overall, very luxurious in that Six Senses rustic way.

From the moment you step off the boat onto dry land, you are made to feel very welcome and at home on Gili. Plenty of places to eat from the main restaurant, to “By The Sea”, to dining on the beach by yourselves if you feel so inclined. You can even dine on “One Palm Island”, or “Three Palm Island” depending on exactly how many palms you think you need present at the time of dining! Everyone should do it once.

Trips to the Six Senses spa were numerous.

* * * * * Expensive, but an unbelievable place to go

NOTE: August 2012; I have just seen that this resort has now been sold by the Six Senses group to another owner, so management may now be different, however the over water bungalows would still be the same.
