Sardine has a simple, remarkable layout with a centre platform for lots of tables, with other tables on the ground level all the way around. A divider one quarter way in with a bar set up in front of it and tables for dinner behind.
On the night we were there, we just had two entrées and dessert. I had the lobster ravioli for entrée and then calamari for main. The lobster ravioli was just superb. Paul also had lobster ravioli and agreed , but he had the crab stack for his entrée and it was superb.
After the main, we were asked whether we’d like to move to the lounge area for dessert and coffee, which we did. This was closer to the actual rice paddy the restaurant overlooks, which made for a different view for the last hour. A great night with great food.
The place is also “rain ready” which you need to be in Bali if you own a restaurant. One minute it’s nice, the next it’s pouring at different times of the year. The bamboo blinds were ready to pull down at the first sight of rain but more importantly they were unobtrusive when not needed.
Kitchen was spotless when we were leaving at midnight. A good sign!
