Montigo Resorts, Seminyak Bali

We booked Montigo Resorts as it was close to where our friends from New Jersey were staying. The price was very really good which concerned me as to what the quality would be like. However, we were totally surprised as to how good... no let me say how fantastic Montigo was for about $130 a night.

What made this hotel great was the staff. From Wungsu who met us at the airport, to the reception staff who are always happy friendly and welcomed you back each time you got back to the hotel. I didn't see the guy's name who was working on reception on Monday night 30 April when got back to the hotel but he was still there next morning at 6.15am as we checked out. He, like all the other staff was so happy, bright and energetic even after working through the night. A real credit to the hotel and the reason people will come back.

The hotel rating is 3.5 to 4 stars but It's the little things that this hotel does that makes its special. Like wifi in the car used for the airport transfers, I've never been offered that before. The room has USB charging ports next to the bed no more need for international chargers. We loved that, thank you - especially because we forgot to bring our international chargers.

We were heading to a beach bar and asked for a carry bag for the towels and they provided a great beach bag that was awesome, and on check out, we were given a breakfast box with a coffee, orange juice fruit and pastries, as it was before the restaurant opened, this just doesn't even happen in a five star hotel! These guys really know how to impress. It's the little things.

The hotel facilities are great although we didn't use the gym or spa due to it being a short trip, but there are three pools, that are placed throughout the property.

Location is fantastic, short walk to eat street and great restaurants in the area. Mrs Sippy and Potatohead are right next door. I thought this might be a concern with noise at night and yes you could hear some music walking to the room but once inside the room it was very quiet.

The room itself was very large, 63sqm which is large on Bali standards. Most probably the best bed we have had in Bali, we slept so well, it was like a cloud.

Room layout was great couch and desk with a large flat screen tv on swivel so you turn it towards the bed at night. The bathroom was large and had a massive free standing bath and walk in shower, the water pressure wasn't as strong as we would like, but it did the job.

Our villa had an outdoor garden that had an outdoor lounge and table and chairs. It lacked some plants and seemed a bit bare, but it was another area to chill out.

My only criticism was the walk to the room was a bit clinical and needs a make over to make feel less like a hospital.

But really this is a great hotel. I give it 9/10 due to the staff who are the best we've experienced in Bali and the price of the room was excellent value.
